The Olympic Astronomical Society will be joining the Olympic National Park Dark Ranger, John Goar, at Hurricane Ridge Visitor Center for special lunar observing on July 20th in honor of the 50th Anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing! The moon will be rising at approximately 11:15 PM but we will be able to view Jupiter and Saturn before then!  John will have a program that starts at 11:00 PM. Please watch the weather as the program will be canceled if cloudy.  We hope to see you there!

  1. Hi Wendy, wow are you busy! If course you can send your dues anytime! We are doing well. Haven’t kayaked yet this year but hope to. We are spending a lot of time with our Grandsons who will be 2 this year. What a joy they are! Hope to see you soon! Linda

  2. Hi Linda,

I would love to go — but I have already made plans for the KNKX annual member appreciation event at MOHAI with my son, Andy. Two great things on one day! How is everyone? I have yet to pay my dues — is it still possible to do so? I could do two years, and be caught up …

Are you and Jeff getting out for any more kayak trips? I have all the gear, but have been busy working & volunteering, and not able to do much else. I took a job with the Navy Recreation program, flex time, and am waiting to hear about a transfer to on-call driving (Trips & Tours) with the same organization. Also, am a part-time interpretive Trails & Rails guide through the Park Service; I give interpretive talks on Amtrak between Seattle and Portland a couple of times a month.

In July, am going on an Alaskan cruise to help celebrate my oldest son, Scott’s, 50th birthday (hard to believe, that was so long ago but it was like yesterday to me.) It is also Scott & Shelly’s 20th anniversary so there is a lot to celebrate. We are trying to talk my twin, Brian, into coming with us but he is balking …. new girlfriend, go figure.

Wish I could join you. I want to go to Camp Delaney again, hopefully in the Fall. I saw something about sign-ups in my inbox, should check the calendar. I’ve only done one thing since Reg passed away, and that was volunteering at the observatory during the total eclipse; I saw Jim Brophy there, it was nice to see a familiar face.

Best wishes and say hello to all, Wendy
